Northern BLUE
Building Local Understanding & Environmental Excellence
Protecting water. Sustaining communities.
Northern BLUE (Building Local Understanding & Environmental Excellence) is dedicated to protecting and improving Canada’s water resources and aquatic environments through education, conservation, community action, and sustainable water management. The program encourages responsible water stewardship while helping communities understand the importance of protecting rivers, lakes, wetlands, watersheds, and other freshwater ecosystems.
Northern BLUE supports initiatives that promote clean water, healthy aquatic environments, and environmental sustainability through education and community participation. By working with local partners and volunteers, the program helps preserve Canada’s water resources for future generations.
Program activities may include river and lake cleanup events, watershed restoration, wetland conservation, water quality awareness campaigns, drinking water education, stormwater management education, shoreline restoration, water conservation workshops, citizen science water monitoring, and school environmental projects.
Northern BLUE primarily supports Canadian communities, municipalities, schools, Indigenous communities, environmental organizations, youth, and future generations, encouraging collaborative efforts to protect and improve water resources across Canada.
Through donations and community partnerships, Northern BLUE helps protect Canada’s water resources, strengthen environmental stewardship, and ensure clean, healthy, and resilient water systems for communities today and in the future.
