Coding for Kids: From Beginner to Young Creator introduces children to programming through live, interactive and age-appropriate lessons. Students will learn how computers follow instructions, how programs are created, and how to approach problems using logical and computational thinking. Rather than focusing only on coding syntax, the course encourages students to think, experiment, solve problems, find mistakes, improve their work, and create their own projects. No previous coding experience is required. Learning Objectives By the end of the course, students should have developed foundational skills in: Computational and logical thinking Algorithms and step-by-step instructions Variables and data Conditions and decision-making Loops and repetition Functions and reusable code User input and output Debugging and finding coding errors Basic game and interactive-project development Introductory Python programming Planning and building an independent coding project Explaining how their own program works Safe and responsible use of technology 6-Month Curriculum Month 1: Discovering Coding Month 2: Logic and Problem Solving Month 3: Building Games Month 4: Introduction to Python Month 5: Creating with Python Month 6: Young Creator Project Final Project: Student's Choice of Game, Interactive Application, Quiz, Story, or Other Approved Coding Project Teaching Approach Lessons should emphasize active participation rather than long lectures. A typical class may include: 10 minutes: Review and coding challenge 15 minutes: New concept and tutor demonstration 25 minutes: Guided hands-on coding 10 minutes: Student questions, debugging and review Progress may be assessed through: Participation in live lessons Short coding challenges Practice exercises Mini projects Debugging activities Tutor feedback Monthly projects Final independent project Technical Requirements Students should have: Laptop/desktop computer, Reliable internet connection, Microphone, Web Browser
